3D Scanning
We used SIMSCAN laser 3D scanner to scan this model with its 0.1 mm resolution. The model was placed upside down and scanned horizontally twice for 3D data stitching. When post-processing the 3D model, the focus was on the three straps on the model’s chest, which were not complete because of the arm cover, so the model’s 3D data was not complete and needed to be filled in.
Photo shooting
The lens we use is a macro lens, like this relatively small object, the requirement for local clarity will be higher, so the macro lens is more suitable. Again, the obscured areas will not be photographed and need to be retouched later. We used to place the model upside down and upright in two orientations, shooting two laps upright and two laps upside down, and the number of photos taken of small objects can be reduced as appropriate.
3DeVOK Mapping
After the 3D model and photos are prepared, we mapped the 3D model in 3DeVOK mapping software. Note that after the relative orientation, the point cloud needs to be dense and reconstructed when it is sparse, and then the two orientations are mapped at the same time. Basically, there is no need to edit the seam lines, and the results are directly evened out. Later, Blender will be more convenient to repair the mapping of obscured parts. When optimizing the mapping, gradually adjust the indistinctness, so that the color transition will be more natural.
