What should I do if my computer prompts a virus after downloading software?

When some customers download iReal 3D scanning software, iReal 3D intelligent mapping assistant or other related files using the channels provided by iReal 3D’s official website, they may encounter a browser pop-up window “virus exists” after the download is completed.

In this case, you need to complete the following operations in the computer settings:

Open the computer system settings and enter the “Security Center – Virus and Threat Protection” interface. Turn off “Real-time protection”, “Cloud-provided protection” and “Automatic sample submission“.

Once you have done the above, you can download the software normally!

(The files downloaded from the iReal 3D website are virus-free and pose no threat to your computer’s security, so please feel free to download them!)

What should I do if the license of iReal 2E 3D scanner expires?

If you purchased the equipment from a reseller/regional manager of Scantech, please contact the corresponding reseller/regional manager directly, provide the serial number of the device (numbers starting with SK, mixed numbers and letters), and re-authorize.

If you don’t find this information helpful, you can contact us by sending an online message or e-mail (please inform us of the relevant information: serial number, company name, and purchase channel).

How many types of projects does iReal 3D scanning software support?

iReal 3D scanning software supports a total of 3 types of 3D projects: Scan Project, Point Cloud Project and Mesh Project.

1. When you save the Scan Project, if you do not move the scanned item, you can reopen the scan project and continue to scan the data to prevent some parts from being missed during the first scan, resulting in incomplete data.
2. Save the Point Cloud Project, you can use “Model Splicing” to stitch and merge the data, and merge the texture files in the two projects at the same time, when the stitching is completed, you will start the calculation from the point cloud step.
3. Regarding the Mesh Project, replace the STL file with the optimized STL file. After opening it again, you can re-map, but the structure and spatial position of the model should not be too different so that the texture will not be misplaced.

When saving a 3D file, which 3D data format should I choose?

Usually, the 3D data in stl/obj/asc formats are the most commonly used 3D data formats. The stl format has no color texture, and the obj format has color textures. When you save an obj file, 3 files will be saved together: obj, mtl, and png. Without mtl and png, obj is equal to stl, with no color tuxture. The mtl file is like a bridge, it combines the obj and png.

After the data is saved, re-open the file in the iReal software, the next step cannot be processed.

  • Check whether the datanumber in the DataImage folder where the scanning project is saved is continuous. If there are intermittent numbers, the data cannot be processed normally.
  • At the same time, check whether there are files of 0 kb in the folder. Those files will also affect the normal processing of data.
  • Check the performance of the CPU and GPU of the computer and check if the disk space of the computer is sufficient, you can quickly check them from the diagnosis function of the software.

What data formats does iReal 3D scanning software support?

It supports universal point cloud formats (PLY, ASC), triangular mesh formats (OBJ, STL) and marker data (mk2).

What is the maximum distance between two markers?

To ensure a better result, it is recommended that the distance between two markers should not exceed 8-10 cm.

How many languages does the iReal 3D scanning software support?

The latest iReal 3D scanning software supports nine languages: Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, German, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Polish/Polski, and Spanish.

What are the main consumables, easily wearing parts, and easily lost parts of the iReal 2E 3D scanner?

1. Main consumables:
2000 reflective markers (inner diameter: 6mm; outer diameter: 10mm) for standard configuration. After the markers are used up, they need to be purchased separately.

2. Main easily wearing parts:
Cables: The combined cable includes a USB 3.0 data transmission cable (4m). When used improperly (for example, the cable is often hard folded), the working life of the cable will be shortened/problems such as data transmission stuttering, scanning stuttering, etc. may occur.

Master plate: The inside of the master plate is made of glass. After each calibration, it is recommended to put it back in the waterproof case, keep it properly, handle it with care, and not break it.

A iReal 2E 3D scanner: Due to the long cable length (4m), when you are not using the device, it is recommended to unplug the cable on the iReal 2E scanner and place the device properly to avoid tripping, which may result in equipment damage.

3. Main easily to lose parts:
Master plate: After each calibration, you need to put it back in the waterproof case in time.

Dongle: When the dongle is plugged into the computer (such as the case of a desktop computer), it may be forgotten to be stored after the scanning work, which may result in loss.

What is the reference distance and scanning depth of field of the iReal 2E 3D scanner?

The reference distance (optimal scanning distance) of iReal 2E is 400mm. The effective scanning distance range is 280-1000mm, so its scanning depth of field is 720mm, which gives the operator more freedom and makes it easier for beginners.

What kinds of items are iReal 2E’s color scanning best suited for?

Items that meet the following three conditions at the same time have the best scanning results of colors and textures:

  1. Matte, rich color, non-solid color, less black items;
  2. Items with continuous, non-repetitive, and richly varied geometric features (features alignment)/texture features (texture alignment);
  3. The size of the item is ≥30cm (iReal color camera has 1.3 million pixels, and the best scanning distance: 40 cm. The mapping result obtained by this pixel at this distance has limited clarity. If the item is too small, it may not be able to satisfy its mapping quality requirements).

What size item is the iReal 2E best suited for scanning?

The best scanning size is 0.3 – 4.0 m.

  1. The maximum size of a single scan: it is recommended not to exceed 4 m. If the size of the item is too large or the resolution setting is too small, the amount of single data can be too large, you can scan it in sections, and then start the alignment in iReal 3D software or in third-party software (if the amount of data is too large, you need to reduce the surface before alignment).
  2. It is recommended that the minimum scan size be no less than 0.3 m. The basic accuracy of iReal 2E is 0.1 mm, and the minimum point spacing is 0.2 mm. This accuracy and point spacing determine that when the size of the item is less than 0.3 m, the local details/textures/angles of the item may not meet the customer’s data restoration needs.

The above suggestions are for reference only. Specific operation methods can be adjusted based on the actual tests: whether iReal 2E can meet your data restoration needs.
